Who Really Loses When a Customer Doesn't Buy From You
Hey Everyone:
Happy New Year to all of you! I’m hoping this year will be the best yet. Are you ready to rock 2023?
I’ll bet you’ve got your marketing strategy, or strategies, already lined up; and your content is polished and ready to go, showcasing the features and benefits of your product or service. And I’ll bet you’re ready to convert high-quality leads into bigger sales than ever before. Right?
I can hear you now: “Absolutely!” And that’s great. But…
Let me ask you a question: Now that you’ve highlighted all those wonderful features and benefits, have you also highlighted the STAKES?
Huh? Stakes? What do I mean by that?
I’m talking about cost. What will your customer lose if they don’t buy from you? What does it cost them?
For instance, will they lose out on spending time with their grandchildren because they didn’t invest properly? Will they rock that skimpy little bikini and be the talk of the town if they don’t use a special supplement? Will they get caught in a cycle of never-ending fees if their project isn’t managed properly?
Or, will they get the dream home if they aren’t qualified for the right loan?
In essence, what do they lose if they don’t come to you? Those are the stakes.
Now, I know this will sound counterintuitive, but trust me, it’s important. You’ve got to remind your customer of the stakes. They must know what they’ll lose if they don’t buy from you.
Okay, I feel you cringing. But not to worry! This isn’t something you need to pound into them. Remember, people are naturally loss averse. A gentle reminder is all it they need to remember how much better off they’ll be if they buy from you.
And this is the most important part: Don’t make the stakes so huge or intense you’re your customer is permanently turned off. A gentle reminder will do.
So don’t miss the opportunity to remind your customer why they should buy from you. Remind them of what they’ll lose (the STAKES!), and also remind them that your company and your product or service is really the best choice overall.
